What is the method of renewing faith?
Question:
In reply to one of my letters, Hazratwala wrote, "I seek an explanation of the fact that a person who has been expelled from Islam because of a word or deed is necessary to believe in tajdid as well as from the cause of disbelief."
(A) What is the meaning of faith in Tajdid and what is its method?
(B) What are the causes of disbelief?
(C) If he has paid Zakat, should he pay it a second time if he can afford it?
Answer:
(A) Martyrdom will be recited in the Qur'an and he will believe it with all his heart. He will admit that he was rejected from the faith because of his denial. If he rejects Islam and converts to Christianity, he will withdraw and sever ties.
(B) There are various reasons for disbelief such as denying the greatness and attributes of Allah, disrespecting His honor, denying any Messenger, disrespecting His honor, denying any book given by Allah, insulting the Book, denying the Hereafter and the angels, etc. Etc.
(C) Zakat of previous years does not have to be paid again after new faith.
